MF - HF Receiver Multicouplers

MC-1 x 16

Application

The MC-1 X 8, MC-1 X 12, MC-1 X 16, and MC-1 X 32 MF-HF Receiver Multicouplers are designed for use with receiving antennas and communications receivers in the 100 kHz to 32 MHz frequency range. The high isolation multicouplers minimize interaction between receivers and reradiation into the antenna.

The MC-1 X 8 provides 8 receiver outputs from one antenna input. From a single antenna input, the MC-1 X 12 provides 12 receiver outputs, the MC-1 X 16 provides 16 receiver outputs, and the MC-1 X 32 provides 32 receiver outputs. All models have 50 Ohm input and output impedances.

Features

Each multicoupler uses low noise, wideband, high-linearity amplifiers to drive the RF distribution circuits. The unique circuit design permits operation in the presence of high intensity RF signals while minimizing undesired intermodulation distortion and noise. The multicoupler provides a minimum of 50 dB isolation between outputs and a minimum of 60 dB output-to-input isolation.

The MC-1 X 8, MC-1 X 12 and the MC-1 X 16 multicouplers are 1-3/4" high rack mounting units. The MC-1 X 32 multicoupler contains two 16 output amplifier assemblies which are driven by a unity gain dual output amplifier. The MC-1 X 32 is a 3-1/2" high rack mounting unit.

The standard internal filters supplied with the unit reject undesired out-of-band signals below 2 MHz and above 32 MHz. The 2 MHz high pass filter may be bypassed to enable the full 100 kHz to 32 MHz frequency range of the unit. An optional 500 kHz high pass filter is available to enable MF-HF operation and to reject LF signals. An optional 2 MHz low pass filter is available for dedicated MF requirements. Custom filters are available for restricted bandwidth applications or for single frequency notch requirements.

Each multicoupler is also available with an optional gain block amplifier to provide a fixed insertion gain. The MC-1 X 16-3 MF-HF Receiver Multicoupler provides a nominal 3 dB amplification of the received signal to compensate for antenna losses. On special order, the multicoupler is available with two antenna inputs and either 8 outputs for each input (MC-2 X 8), or 16 outputs for each input (MC-2 X 16). The multicoupler is also available with four antenna inputs and two outputs for each input (MC-4 X 2). Consult the factory for optional filter, amplifier gain or configuration requirements.

Built-In Test

Each multicoupler continuously monitors the bias conditions of its amplifier stages. Any bias errors are indicated by the Amplifier Fault LED on the front panel. The amplifier assembly and the filter assemblies use Type SMB connectors for all RF signal interfaces allowing maintenance by replacement of the amplifier or filter assembly.
